Dear Yarmouth Colts Community:

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Kirsten Buchanan was selected as Soccer Maine’s 2017 Boys Coach of the Year!

As many of you know firsthand, Kirsten has been involved with the Yarmouth Colts for over six seasons as a head coach or assistant coach, sometimes coaching multiple teams in the same season.  She has an infectious fervor for the game that permeates through her team as she personifies who the Colts are and what our organization represents.   Coach Buchanan led her U10B team this year through a series of ups and downs and taught a litany of character-building lessons along the way.  Most importantly, she teaches the players to always do their best, have fun with a good attitude no matter the situation and to be a good sport.

Additionally, Coach Buchanan noted a need for parents and coaches to fully understand the health requirements for young athletes and created “The Healthy Colts” which can be found on our website at the following address: http://www.yarmouthcolts.com/parents/healthy-colts/.  Coach Buchanan led a team of five parents to promote awareness to four key subjects for our young Colts:  Concussion Awareness, ACL Injury Prevention, Emergency Protocols, and Nutrition.  This has become a fantastic resource for our parents and coaches to use as they approach games and practices.

In the words of one of her players, “Coach Buchanan makes soccer SO fun!”  Isn’t that what it’s all about after all...
